By working in collaboration with local businesses, nonprofits, churches and individuals, this cabinet is now assisting the Foundation in building the El Dorado Hills Endowment Fund and helping to make informed, knowledgeable grants to projects and programs that directly benefit the residents of El Dorado Hills.

Shelbi Bennett | Chair

Shelbi was an elementary school teacher in the Rescue USD until she took a “short” leave of absence to raise her boys.  That short leave turned into a long history of volunteer work as she raised her boys in El Dorado Hills. She and her husband Lee, have been engaged mentors for local youth in community projects and philanthropy. One such example is the annual Mito Kids 5K while serving on the HelpMitoKids Board.  She served on The El Dorado Community Foundation’s Board of Directors from 2008 to 2018, currently chairs the EDH Cabinet, and recently joined the The Place Within Counseling Center’s Board of Directors.  Her family was the creator of the Buy A Day of Hope Golf Tournament that currently raises funds for the El Dorado Hills Endowment.

Andrea Howard

Andrea is the Principal Planner at Parker Development Company and has been with the company for over 20 years.  In addition to serving The Foundation on the EDH Cabinet, she sits on five nonprofit boards: Boys & Girls Club El Dorado County Western Slope, Marshall Foundation, the El Dorado County Economic Development Corp, Hands4Hope - Youth Making a Difference and The Center for Violence-Free Relationships.  Andrea has developed relationships that span local government, education, youth development and says, “I have learned that contributions to others, whether monetary or gifts of time, result in positive social change and further the good of the entire community.”

Jeff MCNaught

Jeff joined the cabinet in 2019, capping off a 40-year career in Silicon Valley, including design, marketing and executive roles at Tandy, ProtoMatrix, Wyse Technology, and Dell. Jeff is passionate about technology, and how it can help people live more robustly and securely in the cloud age.  His key achievement, co-inventing thin client technology for Wyse, accelerated the move to cloud computing, and is in use by leading companies in banking, healthcare, education, federal, state and local government, and retail.  Now retired, Jeff writes and speaks on technology and cybersecurity fields.  Jeff has lived in El Dorado Hills since 2009 with his partner Romeo and dogs Sophie and Ernie.

Allan Priest

Allan brings his business background to our Cabinet as his 20-year career in environmental engineering included building a small consulting business into a worldwide firm.  He currently co-owns a custom home building and remodeling business (ESI Builders) based in EDH, and also operates a family-owned real estate investment brokerage.  Allan is also a Director for the EDH Community Services District, is the current President of the EDH Promise Foundation, and sits on the Advisory Council for the Assistance League, Sierra Foothills.  Having lived in El Dorado Hills since 2000, he and his wife Jen are proud parents of two grown children.

Steve Showers

Steve is a Senior Principal Consultant at Oracle Corporation, a large enterprise computer software company. Prior to moving to El Dorado Hills, Steve lived in the Land Park neighborhood of Sacramento for 16 years where he volunteered with Big Brothers Big Sisters of America and tutored inner-city kids in 5th grade math. Steve has an extensive background in marketing strategy and execution. Steve is looking forward to getting involved in the local El Dorado Hills community.

Nikki Smaglik

Nikki and her husband, Doug, make it a priority to “walk the talk” as they teach their young EDH family the importance of community involvement and philanthropy.  She is our lead pin in organizing our Buy A Day of Hope event. Her professional career includes consulting at Accenture and current contract work at OnCore Consulting.  Nikki also stays very active with volunteer hours in school activities and the Folsom American Little League in support of her young  children. All of this experience and these skills are extremely valuable to our EDH Cabinet.
